The Caretaker speculates below on who might win Republican nomination in 2012.

I think in this environment, with the Republican Party about to collapse and burn, and the Conservative movement beginning to form a circular firing squad, it is simply impossible to foresee who will emerge to lead the 'new and improved' Republican party. It's probaby somebody that hasn't even showed up on the political radar yet.

My gut level is that while Sarah Palin will not disappear, she is still the equivalent of a flash in the pan. Too much superficiality (even her voice is annoying) and not enough substance to go very far beyond Alaska.
