Upon hearing of the Palin Pick, my first impression was 'McCain you sly dog'. That was only after hearing the initial information of her.... pretty woman, young governor, mother of 5, pro-life, and popular. But after all the gloss and shock had worn off, I learned more of what a disastrous pick she is (disastrous for our country if elected, not necessarily the GOP's election). It was then that I came to the conclusion that it was the beginning of the end for the McCain campaign. As has already been discussed.
It is such an obtuse political move, seeming so derogatory towards the American electorate that I assume once the glamor and shock is rubbed off of Palin in the public eye, then many independents and moderates will see the reckless and desperate nature that the McCain campaign represents. This is with the assumption that in a democracy, with an informed society, the society naturally chooses that which is best for itself.... that, it seems, is what is debatable about our country. How informed are we? So, I think it is about patience in some respect, we patiently await as the gloss continues to rub off - hopefully accelerated by Mr. Gibson. Then we glimpse how informed our fellow country folk really are.

This is exactly what I told "The Bookie" this morning. In another week the luster will be off the rose. Middle America is smarter than this and given some more time(and vetting) folks will focus on the top of the ticket and begin to question McCain's judgement.
